Latino Blog on OC newspaper

http://oclatinolink.ocregister.com/

So it turns out that the OC Register has a new Latino blog. Check it out! Usually there is nothing really interesting in this newspaper except for all the ignorant racist comments for some of their articles, however this caught my attention. I usually look at this newspaper when I am really bored at work or some crime happened in Santa Ana and I want to look up the details. Hey, just keeping it real!

Check it out! Let me know what you think.

Easter at Saddleback

Update: Easter service was AMAZING!!! We heard the testimony of a Chilean miner who was the only Christian out of the 33 miners that were trapped. He was a preacher aside from being a miner and during his time in the mine was able to preach and keep hope alive down there. During their time in the mine, 22 of the men gave their lives to the Lord and 5 were married right after they were rescued. Each man was given a Bible so that the Christian miner could pray with them while down there and they never gave up hope. I cannot even begin to describe how miraculous this event was and feel blessed to have been able to hear this testimony today. God is alive! Believe it!

"You rescue those who are humble" Psalm 18:27 (NLT)

Today we will be at Saddleback Orange for Easter services. Don't know which service yet. Perhaps 11am or 1pm. I'm having a hard time finding something to wear! The weather is super cloudy, so I'm not even thinking about wearing an Easter traditional "spring dress". Forget that. Especially since I tend to be cold most of the time. I'm thinking some black pants and a nice blouse for today will be fit. Happy Easter to everyone and may you have a blessed day!

Jlo at Chichén Itzá

Check it out! Fellow Latina Jennifer Lopez none other than in Mexico filming her latest video. Way months back when she first started promoting the album and the first two singles came out, I was for sure NOT going to buy this album even though I am a huge fan of hers. I was NOT impressed. However she has a great team working with her because the last few songs have been pretty awesome! (Well her collabs are amazing too) But hey they are catchy tunes and I can't wait to get her new album, Love? Keep rockin it, sista!!!

My favorite place to escape to is Palm Springs since it is so close to Orange County. Just a little less than 2 hours away. There are some fabulous spas out there. I definitely recommend the Spa Resort Casino. I've been there twice and loved the spa treatments and the private mineral water pool at the end. It is even a family place as well. Some family friendly locations include the Zoo and the Walk of Stars in the downtown area. George Lopez has a star there! He is the only name we recognized! lol. That homeboy plays WAY too much golf. lol. They even had a shop where you can look up your family last name and where you could purchase a family crest. I think this next time, I will go with the girlfriends for a quick spa getaway. Been trying to do it the past two years however we haven't been able to make it! Let's get to it already!

Keep yourself anchored in HOPE

Jeremiah 29:11“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

Wow I had to post this passage today! Not only did a good friend of mine send it to me in an email, but I also came across it at a church website today as well. I'm currently looking for a bible study to attend and hopefully I will find the right one. What a powerful passage! Everyone has something they are struggling with and that they ask God for, yet sometimes it can't come soon enough. Well, like I have mentioned before, it's all in God's timing. Perhaps things haven't happened because you are not spiritually ready yet. Seek God first and the rest will follow. Keep your hopes and dreams alive. It may not look too sunny right now, but don't worry. There are brighter days ahead. Just keep your faith in God. He has plans in store for you. Just you wait!

We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure.
(Hebrews 6:17)

Self-esteem

So I just finished talking to a mommy at work that is feeling like she has low self-esteem because of the fact that she feels like a failure sometimes. This mom, mind you, does SO much for her child that there is NO reason she should feel that way in my eyes. So when do us women get to the point where we feel that there is no hope to advance ourselves in our lives? Isn't a man supposed to be your support system at home? Isn't he the one that is supposed to push you to be a better person not only for your family but for yourself. I look at successful marriages out there in the land of celebrities, and there aren't that many. Men, it's time you wake up and realize what you have before it's gone! And women, if a man doesn't appreciate you for who you are as an individual, then go out there and do something nice for yourself. Don't let anyone bring you down. A shout out to all the married women out there being the rock in their relationship. Men, time to step it up and appreciate your woman before another man sweeps her off her feet! You want this Latina to cook and clean for you, then your behind better get up every morning and get on the grind to pay them bills! If you want this woman to bear your kids, then you make sure you do your part and take care of your woman (financially, emotionally, etc.) It is considered a blessing to have found a wife, and so it says in the Bible you better take care of that wife of yours before it's too late...

Alicia Keys - A Woman's Worth

Flowers to myself

Okay I've been blogging about my faith a lot lately. Let's mix it up with some humor shall we. So I'm thinking of sending some flowers to myself this week at work. I think I deserve some flowers so why not. It's not always easy having two jobs, being in school, and writing a blog! My weekdays consists of 8 hour days, tutoring on occasion, school, homework, cleaning my place, laundry, making dinner, then getting ready to do it all over again the next day!

Wow, all you mommies out there, more power to you! Guess I aint ready for motherhood yet cuz I would probably have to add about 1,000 more chores and dropping off/picking up duties, not to mention less sleep! Yikes! Flowers it is. Ooh la la. Now I know why my sister-in-law gave me an apron that says "Will cook for shoes" for Christmas. Shoot it aint easy sometimes!

A path to choose

"Seek His will in all you do, and He will show you which path to take." (Proverbs 3:6)

On our way home from church today, I came across this passage from Joel Osteen Ministries. My girlfriend and I had a discussion about what the Lord had in store for us these next few months. I shared with her that like I've been advised in the past from my Christian family, you need to pray to God for whatever decision you want to make in life. Whether it is interviewing for a new job, seeking a boyfriend/husband, opening a new business, having kids, moving to a new city, etc. etc. You need to first pray about it and then leave it up to God to show you what path to take. If you don't end up landing a job, then it wasn't God's will. If you don't end up dating that new man, then it wasn't God's will. If you find you want to move somewhere or go on a trip, but you can't financially do it right now, then pray about it and God will open up a door for you. It may not be the door you were seeking, but God knows what He wants for you girlfriend! YOU may think you know what is good for you, but sorry to tell you, YOU don't. Only GOD knows what is good for you. So pray about it girlfriend! Your time will come. "Ask and you shall receive"

Compass Bible Church

Accompanied my girlfriend today to her church in Laguna Hills. It was a wonderful experience and I'm glad I got to share Palm Sunday with her. The message was clear. God's chosen people are not those who He feels are the "best of the best" but they are instead people who NEED God in their lives to help guide them in the right direction. It's kind of hard to explain but it makes a lot of sense. Like Pastor Mike explained today, "Get used to an unimpressive court". There are some unlikely Princes and Princesses in the Bible, yet God called to them to share the good news and carry out a mission for Him. Just like Gideon and David, God called upon them to lead a small army into a battle that couldn't be won. They both were put into a situation where physically they would fail. How does an army of 300 beat an army of 132,000 people? With God's guidance of course! He sometimes comes through to us in the form of an angel like He did for Gideon. Faith in God is so powerful and I am starting to understand it the more I read the Bible. I actually cried when I started reading the Gospel a few months ago just to see what Jesus went through to save us.
I hope to be able to go back to this church in the near future. I really enjoyed the donuts and coffee afterwards as well as the palms that were a symbol of Jesus' coronation. Amen to that. I felt like the traditions I grew up with as a Catholic were still honored at this church, even though I was in a Christian setting.
A nice lunch in Old Town Tustin was wonderful as well. Perfect Sunday. Thank you Jesus for allowing me to see the beauty of another day!

Put it all on God

Feeling inspired this morning going through my Twitter account by yet another one of Pastor Rick Warren's posts. He quotes from the Bible:

"Pile your troubles on God's shoulders-he'll carry your load, he'll help you out"
Psalm 55:22

Somtimes when you feel that there are so many struggles right now that you simply feel that you just can't do it anymore, you have to remember to put it all in God's hands. He knows what you can handle and what you can't handle. Ask the Lord to continue to give you the strength to keep walking in faith. You don't have to struggle to carry all that stress of life by yourself. Whether it is a financial burden, a relationship issue, your kids acting up, your husband acting a fool, who knows what it could be? Perhaps someone in your family is sick, whether it is cancer, or they are constantly in and out of the hospital, ask the Lord to help give you strength for this person. You need to be strong and remember that you don't need to carry all that load by yourself, that is why God is there. To be your guiding light through all the dark times we face. And of course don't forget Him either through the good times as well. He never fails you.

God bless to all. And remember put it all on God. Don't carry that load all by yourself. Lean on him for protection and strength.

So I have decided to make a list of the top ten things I will do during spring break to have fun. New Beginnings

5 And now, dear lady, I am not writing you a new command but one we have had from the beginning. I ask that we love one another.

2 John 1:5

For you created my inmost being;
You knit me together in my mother’s womb.
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
Your works are wonderful, I know that full well.
My frame was not hidden from you
When I was made in the secret place.
When I was woven together in the depths of the earth,
Your eyes saw my unformed body.

Psalm 139:13-16

A butterfly symbolizes to me a new beginning. It also symbolizes the transformation of a human being into something that is beautiful. If you ever visit me at work, you will see that I have a lamp decorated with butterflies and a border on my bulletin board that is also full of butterflies. This symbol took a special meaning to me when I worked for a Christian Church a few years back and was given a butterfly necklace. I will forever be grateful for all the New Beginnings that life has to offer to me. Sometimes we have to go through some dark times in our lives where we feel that we just want to give up, but never forget that God's got your back. Just like a butterfly starts out in a coccoon for many weeks and then becomes a caterpillar later to transform into a beautiful creature. Just like our Lord and Savior was tested for 40 days in the hands of Satan, yet he rejected the temptation and was transformed into the one person on this earth who saved us with the help of his father. That is a beautiful thing. Let's not close doors to opportunities that can transform your life. Let's embrace them.

Update: Just saw this on my twitter account. Loved it! @RickWarren says "God changes caterpillars into butterflies, sand into pearls & coal into diamonds using TIME & PRESSURE. He's working on u too.

LOVE THIS! Exactly my message to others a few days ago :)

The Biggest Loser

Watching the show when they go to New Zealand made me so emotional to see people feeling so inspired to make a positive change in their life. For one person, it became so special to be on that island because his dad was once sent to that island to make something of himselff and help out the family back home. I'm watching this show while I make dinner and do laundry all the while thinking about what it would be like to do half the challenges on that show.

Running a 5K in New Zealand, maybe not. But perhaps walking a 5K here in the OC for a cause, that is a definite maybe.

La milagrosa

Feeling inspired by none other than our Holy Mother. I see her many times throughout the year, especially during the Christmas season where many people in Santa Ana set up shrines outside their homes or inside to give thanks and praise for the miracles she performs for so many people. Her birthday, December 12th, lands the day before my birthday, December 13th. I remember going to 6am mass (well once anyways) with my mother and seeing the adoration of the town to this woman. I have seen her image this past week in a few places and every time I do, it brings a certain feeling in my heart.

I am sitting here contemplating on where to focus my blog posts. I would appreciate any feedback from anyone. Still trying to figure out what to focus on. I have so much to say, yet don't know where to start. Any ideas, let me know. Thanks. I'm thinking about blogging about Tyrese's book. I hear it is Mega-Inspiring!!! Stay tuned...
