My trip to the SS Lane Victory

My trip to the SS Lane Victory was a pleasant surprise. Little did I know it contained a museum, artillery remnants and a working kitchen. It is also a place where you can hold special events such as a wedding.

The cost is $5 for the entrance and it's working hours are 11am-4pm from Friday-Wednesdays. Closed Thursdays. It is also minutes away from the world famous Ports O'Call Village where you can grab a bite to eat.

The merchant ship was a working ship during the tail end of WWII, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. During the Korean War, it housed 6,000 refugees and transported them from communist North Korea to South Korea.

The flags on the ship were used for communication. Each has a special letter attached to them that represents their meaning. They can still be used today and are in working order.

For more information, see www.lanevictory.org. It's a great place to take the children. You can make it a day trip together with the Ports O'Call Village. Both are located in the city of San Pedro.
